NOSPLAN - National Organisation of Students of Planning

National organization of students of planning is an organization to uplift the planning education and profession among the student planners, professionals, planning bodies and the communities. It connects the profession of planning with society. NOSPLAN is an organization to develop the community of student planners to become better planning professionals of tomorrow. It is the stage for interaction of thoughts of student planner and the planning fraternity. It provides a platform to student planners to raise their voices, project their ideas about current planning practices.

Need of NOSPLAN

A need of nosplan was felt as to provide a platform to planning student to share their thoughts about the planning profession and its practices among themselves, related bodies and planning professionals.

Objectives of NOSPLAN

To help towards advancement, dissemination and application of knowledge of planning, through the education system and planning related research and practice.
To create a forum to present the views of students to the society and to the people in profession of planning.
To inculcate a feeling of honor for the profession of planning amongst the masses and create an awareness about its contribution towards the development of nation
To promote interactions among planning students, faculty, professionals, educational institutes and states engaged in advancement, dissemination and application of academic knowledge of planning.
To promote and encourage academic research by students in planning nd related subjects.
To voice students community opinions on various issues related to development and planning.

Though we know the history of nosplan from 1993, the history can be traced back to the days of 1975 when NOSPLAN meet had happened between planning students of SPA, IIT Kharagpur etc,. All of which can trace back vaguely from interviews with people of this era is that at least two or three annual meet has happende in these years in IIT kharagpur and SPA and 2nd president of NOSPLAN is the current Director of NIUA - National Instituteof Urban Affairs.

The Revival:

In 1993, School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, revived the long dormant NOSPLAN meet, where planners from all over the country met to exchange new ideas and share experiences.In 1998, School of Planning, CEPT, Ahmedabad hosted the Annual Convention of NOSPLAN
